The man who got the first goal back in last season’s match, Adam Smith, is out of these Bournemouth v Newcastle predictions. He has a hamstring injury, and joins Steve Cook, Lewis Cook and Simon Francis on the sidelines. David Brooks is expected to be fit after tiring in the second half of Bournemouth’s match at Huddersfield Town. Junior Stanislas could also return to action following a hip injury.

After bursting onto the scene in some style, it’s unfortunate for Sean Longstaff that he’s going to miss the rest of the season. It’s also bad news for Rafael Benitez. The Magpies boss is also without Rob Elliot and Ciaran Clark this weekend, while Jamaal Lascelles is a doubt with a knee injury. Fabian Schar is suspended after picking up his 10th booking of the season at the weekend.

Bournemouth vs Newcastle prediction, preview and betting tips

Ordinarily, we’d consider Newcastle safe after their victory at the weekend. It’s a strange season though, with just 10 points separating 18th-placed Cardiff City and Leicester City in 10th. They’re all bunched up, and a result at Bournemouth in these football predictions would be massive for the Magpies. The Cherries have been out of form of late, but made no mistake against bottom club Huddersfield on Saturday.

Eddie Howe’s side dispatched the Terriers 2-0, ending a run of four defeats and a draw in their last five games. It also ended a run of 10 straight away defeats in all competitions, with nine of those in the league. Bournemouth also welcomed back top scorer Callum Wilson at the weekend, helping to lift the mood further ahead of this Bournemouth vs Newcastle prediction.

The atmosphere on Tyneside could hardly be any better at present. Newcastle’s dramatic victory over Everton, where they came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2, was their fifth in a row at home in the Premier League. That’s left the Magpies on the brink of sealing top flight football next term, but the job’s not done yet. They have a six-point lead over Cardiff.

Things are a little different for Newcastle on the road though. Their only victory in their last eight on the road was at basement boys Huddersfield. Benitez’s side have hardly set the league alight this term, and although the away team are on a high, and have cut the deficit to Bournemouth to just three points, the Cherries have real quality in their team.

That’s particularly true up front, where Howe’s side have lots of pace, power, guile and movement. At 11/10, the home win looks very tempting in your Bournemouth vs Newcastle betting tips. With Newcastle showing plenty of attacking threat in recent games, we’re backing both teams to score predictions at 17/20 with William Hill.

Bournemouth haven’t been in top form of late, but they scored twice away from home last weekend. They are 17/2 to do so again in winning 2-1 as part of your football score predictions for this game. If you want football tips with big odds, add Wilson as the first scorer for 37/1 with Betfair.

Bournemouth vs Newcastle first goalscorer predictions

England international Wilson got the opener in Bournemouth’s game at the weekend. He’s the 18/5 favourite with 888sport to break the deadlock in this one. Ayoze Perez meanwhile is in great form for Newcastle, scoring two late goals in the weekend’s victory over Everton. The Spaniard scored the only goal of the game away to Bournemouth a few years back, and is 8/1 in the first goalscorer odds here. Perez is 45/1 to bag in another 1-0 away win.

Score prediction: Bournemouth 2-1 Newcastle
