One of the goalscorers from this season’s first meeting between the sides should be back for these Leicester v Newcastle predictions. Brendan Rodgers gave Maguire the weekend off after the birth of his daughter, but the England defender will return here. Fellow centre-back Jonny Evans is a doubt with a hip injury though. Caglar Soyuncu impressed on his return to the side though, which is a bonus for Rodgers. However, the Foxes boss will be without Marc Albrighton and Daniel Amartey.

Issac Hayden and DeAndre Yedlin overcame minor problems to play on Saturday, but Mohamed Diame didn’t make it. He’s a doubt for this football prediction, while Rafael Benitez will definitely be without two players. Sean Longstaff and Florian Lejeune are both out with knee injuries. The latter was stretchered off in the second half of Newcastle’s defeat against Crystal Palace, and is out for the season.

Leicester vs Newcastle prediction, preview and betting tips

Whether this is merely the bounce from a new manager or a sign of things to come, it’s all going very well for Leicester City at the moment. After a disappointing late defeat in his first game at Watford, Rodgers has guided the Foxes to four straight wins. Now up into seventh, Leicester are looking to continue their good run against Newcastle United on Friday night.

The Foxes put four past relegated Huddersfield Town on Saturday, backing up their victories over Fulham, Burnley and Bournemouth. Delivering European football in his first few months in the job would be a major bonus for Rodgers. He has a great chance of doing just that, although the race to finish seventh is tight.

Even if it’s been a relatively comfortable run of fixtures, Leicester are playing with more confidence and fluidity than before. Vardy is bang in form, while the players seem impressed by their new boss. At 3/4 for the win, the hosts look like pretty good value in this Leicester vs Newcastle prediction.

The visitors meanwhile are stuttering again after a decent run that took them away from the relegation scrap. Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace doesn’t tell the whole story, but was still a major disappointment. Newcastle had 18 shots to their visitors’ three, but only got five on target and couldn’t score.

Should Newcastle lose here, Cardiff City would be just a point behind if they win their two games in hand. Those are against Burnley and Brighton, so that’s not entirely unthinkable. Even with the pressure starting to build a little once again though, it’s tough to see the Magpies getting a result here.

Leicester have won six of the last seven meetings between these teams, and are in strong form at the moment. They’ve scored 11 goals in their last four games, but Newcastle are likely to sit in and try to deny the Foxes space to manoeuvre. Leicester are 3/1 to win 1-0 or 2-0 in your free football betting tips for this match. With Vardy scoring anytime those odds rise to 33/5 with Betfair.

Newcastle have failed to score in their last two matches, while Leicester kept a clean sheet in their last home game against Bournemouth. That’s why we’re backing against both teams to score at 19/20 with bet365 in your Leicester vs Newcastle betting tips. A 2-0 home win is available at 8/1 with the same bookmaker in your football score predictions.

Leicester vs Newcastle first goalscorer predictions

Vardy has scored six goals in five games under Rodgers. That’s taken him to 15 Premier League strikes for the season. The Englishman is the 3/1 favourite with 888sport to open the scoring on Friday, rising to 21/1 if Leicester go on to win 2-0. If you’re after a Newcastle player in the first goalscorer odds, Salomon Rondon has the shortest price. The Venezuelan is 7/1 to break the deadlock, and 41/1 to all but secure his new permanent club’s Premier League status by netting the only goal of the game.

Score prediction: Leicester 2-0 Newcastle
