Friday 15 February, kick-off 7.45pm
Loftus Road – FA Cup
Premier League outfit Watford travel to mid-table Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers on Friday night in this FA Cup preview. The Hornets are having a good season and start as favourites, but QPR have nothing to lose and have a chance to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 1995.

QPR don’t look like a team in form and capable of upsetting one of the Premier League’s standout performers from this season. If Watford take this game seriously, they should win. After a seven-goal thriller at Loftus Road last weekend, the Hoops are capable of hitting the back of the net – as well as conceding a hatful. BTTS is 10/11 with Betfred, while Watford are 10/3 with the same bookmaker to win with both teams scoring, which looks tempting in your free football betting tips. The away team are 14/1 to win 3-1 like on their last visit to Loftus Road.
Watford to win and both teams to score
Andre Gray has had to bide his time and wait for his chances following an injury lay-off. The Watford striker bagged the only goal of the game against Everton at the weekend, and scored at Newcastle United in the last round of the FA Cup. He is the 21/4 favourite with 888sport to open the scoring in this QPR vs Watford prediction. Gray is 43/20 with the same bookmaker in the anytime market, and 73/1 to score first in a 3-1 Watford win.
Andre Gray to score first
QPR have conceded four goals in their last two home games in the Championship. They lost 4-1 to Preston last month before a 4-3 defeat to Birmingham City at the weekend. Watford meanwhile shipped three at Bournemouth in January. An over 5.5 goals bet is 16/1 with bet365, while Watford are 150/1 to win this game 4-3 in your football score predictions. You can add our top dog Gray as the first scorer in that for a massive 500/1.
Over 5.5 goals

Former England manager Steve McClaren has two injury concerns heading into these QPR vs Watford predictions. Experienced duo Angel Rangel and Geoff Cameron have respective thigh and ankle problems, and are being monitored day to day. Nahki Wells, who’s on loan at QPR from Burnley, will hope to start and put last weekend’s injury-time penalty miss behind him.

Hornets boss Javi Gracia freshened things up in the last round of the cup, away to Newcastle, so he’s likely to do the same here. Jose Holebas is one enforced change for the visitors, after picking up his 10th booking of the season last weekend. Roberto Pereyra is out with a hamstring injury, while Sebastian Prodl and Isaac Success are also on the treatment table.
QPR vs Watford prediction, preview and betting tips
Queens Park Rangers nearly came into this game on the back of a stunning comeback at the weekend. They fell short though and are in something of a no man’s land in the Championship. Watford meanwhile won their grudge match with Everton on Saturday, and are flying high in the Premier League table ahead of these football predictions.
QPR were 4-0 down going into added time at the end of the first half of their home game against Birmingham on Saturday. Towering striker Matt Smith pulled one back before the break though, before adding another straight after half-time. Jordan Cousins made it 4-3 with 10 minutes to go, but Wells missed a 93rd-minute penalty as the Rs failed to rescue a hugely unlikely point.
The defeat leaves Steve McClaren’s side 15th in the Championship, 13 points clear of the relegation zone and 11 points shy of the play-off places. The Hoops have lost their last four league games, and beat League One Portsmouth 2-0 in a replay at Loftus Road in the last round of the FA Cup. They haven’t won a Championship game since Boxing Day. However, they did beat Leeds United in the third round of the cup.
Irrespective of that, Watford are going to be stern opposition for the home team. The Hornets beat Everton 1-0 at the weekend, and are very much in the hunt for European football. Their only two defeats in their last 13 fixtures have been against Tottenham and Chelsea. Players are returning from injury all the time, giving Javi Gracia plenty of options.
The Watford boss is likely to use some of those on Saturday, but the Premier League outfit’s travelling fans will be disappointed if they see a vastly weakened team. This is a great chance for the Hornets to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals, after getting to the semis in 2016. Having faced Crystal Palace in the last four that year, Watford know getting to the final shouldn’t be out of reach for them. Especially considering the season they’re having.
We’re backing the away team to get this tie done on Friday night, at 9/10 in your QPR vs Watford betting tips. QPR’s eight fixtures so far in 2019 have seen 27 goals, an average of 3.4 per game. Watford have played the same number of matches, and seen 17. We fancy both teams to go for it under the lights and in front of the TV cameras, which is why we’re backing the visitors to win and both teams to score at 10/3 with Betfred. The Hornets are 5/1 with the same bookmaker to win with over 3.5 goals in the game.
QPR vs Watford first goalscorer predictions
Watford striker Troy Deeney could be one of those players in for a rest on Friday night. If he plays though, he’s one of the likeliest candidates to open the scoring, at 6/1. After almost inspiring a miraculous comeback at the weekend, Matt Smith is 15/2 in the first goalscorer odds for QPR. He has four goals in his last five games, including against Portsmouth in the last round of the FA Cup.
