Cardiff don’t score many away from home, which is why we’re going against both teams to score at 10/11 in our football betting predictions. Southampton are the favourites and they are 7/4 with bet365 to win to nil. We’re backing a 2-0 home win on Saturday at 7/1 with the same bookmaker.
Southampton to win to nil
After no goals or assists in his first 15 Premier League games of the season, Nathan Redmond now has three goals and two assists in his last 10 under Hasenhuttl. He opened the scoring against Burnley last weekend and is 7/1 with Betway to do the same here. Redmond is 14/5 with the same bookie to score anytime, and 38/1 to get the first in a 2-0 Southampton win.
Nathan Redmond to score first
Cardiff have won their last two games against Southampton 1-0, one at home and one away. The Bluebirds are 12/1 with bet365 in your football score predictions to make it three in a row this weekend. If you add last week’s hero Bobby Reid as the scorer, those football betting odds rise to 52/1.
Cardiff to win 1-0

Team news and form
Last six: DWDWDD
Saints top scorer Danny Ings is out for two or three weeks, which is a nightmare for the home team. Influential midfielder Mario Lemina is also out of these Southampton vs Cardiff predictions, although Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg should be available. Michael Obafemi is another player Saints boss Hasenhuttl is missing this weekend.
Last six: LLDLLW
Neil Warnock is hopeful Victor Camarasa is fit for this game. The Spaniard is important to Cardiff and will have a late fitness test. Defender Sean Morrison is the only player who’s definitely out for the away team. Warnock has said his captain is ahead of schedule, but he isn’t likely to be available until early March.
Southampton vs Cardiff prediction, preview and betting tips
It’s been an emotional time for Cardiff City, and this week’s developments with Emiliano Sala are tragic. The Bluebirds responded with a wonderful performance in front of their home fans in their last game, and Neil Warnock will hope his team can produce the same on Saturday. It’s going to be tough against Southampton though, who are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games coming into these football predictions.
The Saints got a decent point away at Burnley last weekend, although it was very disappointing to concede such a late penalty. It was nearly all three points, but even without those extra two things are looking up under Hasenhuttl. If they win on Saturday, they’ll be five points clear of the relegation zone.
The away team are on 22 points coming into this Southampton vs Cardiff prediction, two from safety. They’re right behind Newcastle United, Burnley and their hosts this weekend though. After their 2-0 victory over Bournemouth last weekend, they can win back-to-back top-flight fixtures for the first time since 1962 here.
Unfortunately for Cardiff, we don’t think they will. Their away form is poor, with only five points from 12 matches. Four of Southampton’s five wins this season have been against teams in the top half of the table. There’s quality in the Saints squad, and they’re starting to show it.
Southampton’s last seven home games have seen both teams score. However, Cardiff have only scored seven on the road, the worst record in the league. That’s why we’re backing the Saints to win to nil in our Southampton vs Cardiff betting tips, at 7/4. They haven’t scored more than two goals in a game since before Christmas though, with the Saints to win and under 2.5 goals 13/5 with Betway.
Southampton vs Cardiff first goalscorer predictions
Shane Long came on for the injured Danny Ings last weekend, and Saints boss Hasenhuttl could turn to the hard-working Irishman again here. He doesn’t score many, but got what turned out to be the winner away at Leicester City last month. Long is 11/2 to score first on Saturday. Cardiff’s Bobby Reid should be full of confidence coming into this game after his match-winning brace last weekend. He doubled his tally for the season against Bournemouth, and has first goalscorer odds of 10/1 here.
